Linear alkyl benzene (LAB) is widely used in the detergent industry due to its good degradability in the environment. Linear alkyl benzene after sulfonation in downstream units is converted to alkyl benzene acid sulfonic acid (LABSA) and is used as a cleaning agent in liquid detergents and hand and machine washing powders.
